| Skidget is the tallest and most finely built of my girls. She is 11
inches tall (which makes her a miniature, rather than a toy) and she weighs
9 1/2 pounds (less than some of my toys).
Skidget was the first home-grown puppy we kept. She has been pampered and
adored since the day she was born and is a very special girl. She is great
with people, dogs and all other species she encounters (with the exception
of geckos, frogs and grasshoppers).
Skidget loves everybody and everybody loves Skidget. She is enormously
friendly and she also loves to travel. When she hears my car keys she's at
the front door and she's the first one there.
Skidget is extremely well behaved. She did have one bad habit but we've
re-classified that from a habit to at an exception to the rule. She is a
gate jumper. She jumps any height gate any time she wants to get to the
other side and that's that. I've allowed this exception as long as she
agrees not to jump the fences outside (which she could easily do). So far so
good.
She never gets into anything so I don't care where in the house she is.
On the other hand, if she's in heat and I don't want to breed her she has to
be in "full dress" all the time and crated at night to avoid any accidental
pups. This too is fine with her. She'll hop into a crate at night with as
much exuberance as she'll jump onto my bed. In fact, sometimes when we get a
puppy who hasn't been crate trained I'll have Skidget sleep with her in the
crate for a couple of nights to help her acclimate. She's always happy to
help. |
