Baby Brigid

Brigid was born on March 18, 2006 and reserved when she was only a week or so old (as so many of our puppies are). As she was growing up I fell in love with her, as did my husband. We really dreaded having to let her go.  Due to some unforeseeable circumstances the woman who had reserved her needed to change her plans and wait until a later time to get a puppy. I was never so happy to return a deposit!

All of our puppies are smart. All have great personalities. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is that makes Brigid so special but she sure is. As you can see from the picture at the left she is a scamp. She's not the first one to climb out of the playpen but she's the first one to do it at only two pounds.

I've often heard that "good things come in small packages, and so does dynamite". This certainly describes Brigid as she is both. At 13 weeks she tips the scales at two pounds and 11 ounces. She may get as big as her daddy Austin (who is just under 5 1/2 pounds and is a tiny thing) but I won't bet on it. I hope she'll be big enough to breed because I'd love to have this personality passed on but we'll have to wait and see.

She doesn't seem to know that she is a fraction of the size of the dogs she pounces on and rough houses with.

Brigid's New York Trip
Brigid started traveling younger than any of our pups have before. I had already scheduled a flight to deliver her (along with two other pups) to NY City. When it was clear that I was going to keep her I took her on the trip with me anyway because she was too small to leave home playing with the other dogs while Ken was at work.

Most poodles are amazing travelers. They only want to be where their person is and they are happy to fly, ride or walk to get there. Brigid acted like a seasoned traveler and not even the five cats or the two hairless rats at my sister Jan's house made her at all nervous, however, they did arouse her curiosity.

The picture to the right shows her checking out the hairless rats. She thinks they are either very strange dogs or even stranger humans.

Brigid watched the rats until she fell asleep watching.

Then we both relaxed some more.
Brigid was impressed. She never saw a litter box with a ceiling.
